Roomba j7 Wheel Stuck or Not Turning

Use this guide when the robot drags one side, pivots unexpectedly, or one drive wheel feels harder to turn than the other.

5–8 min No disassembly first Safe checks
QUICK ANSWER

Compare both drive wheels by hand.

Push each wheel up and down, clear the wheel well, then rotate both wheels. A persistent difference in resistance is a useful sign that one module needs deeper attention.

Robot vacuum drive wheels with debris in one wheel well
Compare both sides: each drive wheel should move through its suspension and rotate with similar resistance.
INTERACTIVE DIAGNOSIS

Check the drive wheel

STEP 1 OF 2

After cleaning, does one wheel still feel much stiffer than the other?

Compare them with the robot powered off.

Do not force a seized wheel

Forcing the wheel can damage gears or the module housing. Stop if it binds after visible debris is removed.
