Begin with the quick checks. Stop if a step requires tools or experience you do not have.
To replace the Roborock S8 mop cloth, remove its flat VibraRise holder, take off the old cloth, and secure a damp replacement in the attachment slot and hook-and-loop fasteners. Check the fit before starting a mopping run.
This guide is for the original S8 flat mop assembly. Match the replacement to your exact robot model; a similar-looking cloth can leave edges loose or fail to cover the holder correctly. Our parts compatibility guide explains what to check before ordering.
Decide whether to wash or replace it
A dirty cloth does not automatically need replacing. Wash it first and inspect it after it dries. Replace a cloth that is torn, has worn attachment areas, or no longer sits flat on the holder.
Roborock recommends cleaning the cloth after each use and replacing it every three to six months. Treat that interval as a maintenance guide: the condition of the cloth still matters, especially after frequent use on gritty floors.

Fit the replacement cloth
- Stop the robot. Move it off the charging dock and switch it off before handling the mop assembly.
- Remove the holder. Press the latches on both sides and slide the mop cloth mount backward. Keep your fingers out of the gap between the mount and tank.
- Take off the old cloth. Release its hook-and-loop attachment and slide its edge out of the attachment slot. Inspect the exposed holder for trapped debris.
- Prepare the new cloth. Dampen it with water and wring it until it stops dripping.
- Attach it evenly. Insert the cloth edge along the holder’s attachment slot, then press the fasteners firmly into place. Check for folds or a loose corner.
- Reinstall the holder. Slide it forward beneath the water tank until it clicks into place.
Check the fit before a full run
With the robot ready for mopping, try a small area of suitable hard flooring. Stop and inspect the assembly if the cloth drags, bunches up, or comes loose. Reseating a folded edge is a better first step than immediately changing water-flow settings.
| What you notice | What to check |
|---|---|
| One edge hangs loose | Model compatibility, slot engagement, and fastener contact. |
| The cloth folds during cleaning | Whether it was laid flat across the holder before installation. |
| The floor has streaks | Cloth cleanliness and loose dirt on the floor before judging the new cloth. |
| The cloth stays dry | Tank fill, fitting, and mopping settings using the water-flow guide. |
Keep the new cloth ready for the next job
After mopping, remove the cloth, clean it, and let it air-dry. A spare makes it easier to start with a clean cloth while the other dries. Remove the mop mount when you are not mopping.
If changing the cloth does not resolve dry mopping, follow S8 water dispensing troubleshooting and the S8 water tank cleaning guide. Avoid replacing several parts at once; test after each change so you can tell what helped.
