
Start with dock placement and a clear approach lane.
Roborock's Qrevo Curv troubleshooting says to clear obstacles near the dock and move the robot closer if it cannot return. The model manual adds three details that are easy to miss: use a hard, flat floor, avoid direct sunlight at the dock, and do not block the dock location beacon.
Four docking patterns point in different directions
It wanders near the dock but never lines up
Look for clutter, a tight recess or a blocked beacon. Move loose objects away and give the station a cleaner line of sight.
It reaches the dock, turns, then tries again
A tilted dock or awkward approach angle is more likely than a map failure. Make sure the station is flat on hard flooring and firmly against the wall.
It returns to where cleaning started instead
The Curv manual says that when the robot cannot find the dock it can return to its starting position. If the robot was carried or moved, put it closer to the dock and retry.
It docks sometimes, but fails at certain times of day
Strong direct sunlight or reflections around the dock can interfere with the station's location beacon. Compare the same test with curtains closed or the dock moved out of glare.

Find the most likely docking cause
Is the dock on a hard, level floor with a clear approach?
Look for carpet under the station, nearby boxes, cables, furniture legs or a narrow alcove.
Eight fixes to try in order
Clear the area around the dock
Remove anything the robot has to squeeze past during the final approach. Pay special attention to cables, shoes, furniture feet and storage bins that appeared after the map was created.
Put the dock on hard, flat flooring
Roborock warns that carpet or a soft mat can let the dock tilt, which can cause docking and departing problems. Move the station to tile, wood or another firm surface.
Keep the station flat against the wall
Do not leave it angled or loose. A stable dock gives the robot a repeatable reference point for the last part of the return.
Remove direct sunlight from the dock
The Curv manual specifically warns that direct sunlight or anything blocking the dock location beacon can prevent the robot from returning. Test once with glare reduced.
Clean the beacon and front sensor
Use a soft, dry cloth on the robot's front sensor window and the dock's beacon area. A dusty optical surface can make an otherwise correct setup unreliable.
Place the robot closer and retry
Roborock lists excessive distance from the dock as a return-to-dock cause. Put the robot in the same room, a few feet away, and press Dock.
Undo a manual position change
If the robot was carried or moved after cleaning started, let it relocalize near the dock. If needed, place it on the station manually, then test again from nearby.
Restart before considering remapping
Restart the robot and run one controlled docking test. Do not delete a good map unless the robot is also showing broader localization errors in normal cleaning.

Do not confuse a docking problem with a charging problem
