Roborock Q Revo Side Brush Not Spinning

Use this guide when the Q Revo moves and vacuums normally but the small edge-cleaning brush is stopped, barely moving, tangled or leaving debris along walls and corners.

5–10 min Small screwdriver Power off first
QUICK ANSWER

Remove the side brush, clear wrapped hair and reinstall it securely.

Roborock's Q Revo manual says the side brush should be removed and cleaned as routine maintenance, and its common-issues section specifically says a jammed side brush should be cleaned. Start there before assuming the drive motor has failed.

Unbranded robot vacuum with hair tangled around its side brush
Typical cause: hair or thread wraps around the side-brush hub, adding enough resistance that the brush slows down or stops.
INTERACTIVE DIAGNOSIS

Find why the side brush is not turning

STEP 1 OF 3

Is there hair, thread or debris wrapped around the side brush or its center hub?

Turn the robot off and inspect the brush closely before removing it.

Use a suitable screwdriver to loosen the center screw, then lift the brush away from the robot.

03

Clear the hub and brush

Remove wrapped hair, thread and debris from the center and from around the brush arms. Roborock recommends cleaning the Q Revo side brush monthly.

2–3 min
04

Inspect for wear or deformation

If an arm is badly bent, cracked or worn, replace the brush. The Q Revo manual gives a normal replacement interval of about 3–6 months, depending on actual use.

05

Reinstall it flat and secure

Seat the brush correctly on the hub and tighten the center screw so the brush is secure.

1 min
06

Run a controlled cleaning test

Put the robot upright on an open hard floor and run a short normal cleaning pass. If the brush remains stationary after cleaning and correct installation, use Roborock support.

When to stop DIY

If the side brush is clean, undamaged and correctly installed but never turns during normal cleaning, do not open the robot to reach the side-brush motor, gearbox or internal wiring. Have the drive system diagnosed by qualified service.
